Orientation Counselor

OC: The Original Cool!

The Office of New Student Services will begin recruitment for the 2015 - 2016 Orientation Counselor staff on September 15, 2014. Orientation Counselors (OCs) fulfill a critical role in helping new students and families transition to the UNC Charlotte campus. During your time as an OC you will gain skills in a variety of areas such as leadership, public speaking, team achievement and problem solving.

Successful OC candidates will exhibit characteristics in the areas of dedication, determination, loyalty and trustworthiness. Candidates must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA and want to work with incoming Freshman and Transfer students as well as parents and family members. Due to the complexity of the position, OCs are not permitted to be Resident Advisors or enroll in summer courses.

Program Assistant

Program Assistants: We’re Here to Help You SOAR!
The Office of New Student Services is currently looking for students who are interested in joining the Program Assistant staff. Program Assistants (PAs) fulfill an important role in helping new students and families transition to the UNC Charlotte campus. During your time as PA you will gain skills in a variety of areas such as leadership, public speaking, team achievement and problem solving.

Successful PA candidates will exhibit characteristics in the areas of dedication, determination, loyalty and trustworthiness. Candidates must have a 2.3 cumulative GPA and want to work with incoming students and families as well as complete ‘behind the scenes’ tasks. This position offers a great deal of flexibility with work hours. PAs are permitted to be Resident Advisors and enroll in summer courses.

Week of Welcome Leader

Week of Welcome (WOW!) Leaders provide volunteer support to the overall Week of Welcome (WOW!) Program. WOW! Leaders assist in the transition of new student to the UNC Charlotte community as well as engaging the returning student body to the many programs, services, and traditions present at the university. WOW! Leaders are dependable, flexible, responsible, and highly enthusiastic. They possess strong time management skills as well as demonstrate a willingness to help others. These students enjoy working with new students and consistently display a positive and supportive attitude, especially during stressful and demanding situations.
