WOW Leaders
Week of Welcome (WOW!) Leaders provide volunteer support to the overall Week of Welcome (WOW!) Program. WOW! Leaders assist in the transition of new student to the UNC Charlotte community as well as engaging the returning student body to the many programs, services, and traditions present at the university. WOW! Leaders are dependable, flexible, responsible, and highly enthusiastic. They possess strong time management skills as well as demonstrate a willingness to help others. These students enjoy working with new students and consistently display a positive and supportive attitude, especially during stressful and demanding situations.
These exceptional student leaders are responsible for:
• Actively staffing and providing needed support, to the many events and programs offered during WOW!
• Assisting in the implementation of WOW! programs.
• Serving as a mentor and role model for new students by demonstrating maturity and leadership abilities.
• Aiding in the coordination of event publicity.
• Remaining flexible, open minded, and ready to accept new tasks and additional responsibilities.
In order to qualify to become a Week of Welcome Leader, students must:
• Maintain at least a 2.3 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
• Attend training meetings in Spring semester
• Be willing and able to come back to campus a week early in August.
• Volunteer at a pre-determined number of events throughout the duration of Week of Welcome, to include the Outdoor Movie, Block Party, 49er New Year and Late Night Back to School event
• Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the Fall Semester 2010.
• Be in good university standing.
